SA Design Collective Albany WA

Discover Albany with Grace Schlager of S.A. Design Collective.

With interstate travel on the cards, we’re dreaming far and wide and looking to explore some more hidden gems of regional Australia. This month we’re looking at the coastal town of Albany in Western Australia, with Coco Unika stockist and Albany local Grace Schlager of S.A. Design Collective.

Grace is a Registered Architect who runs her own firm, Schlager Architects, alongside her design outpost, S.A. Design Collective. “I opened the store in March this year, but it's something I have been working towards for the last two years since I first started my own architecture firm. I had a vision of the two facets coming together to complement each other in showcasing design, beautiful homes and unique as well as good quality furniture all in the same space. The space acts as a design resource for our architectural clients and anyone who visits our store and office. We love to share our knowledge and ideas.”

Grace has many Coco Unika pieces in store and says she was drawn to the quality and style of Coco Unika furniture and homewares. “Each [Coco Unika] piece is beautiful but also fun and different. I love all the colours, natural finishes and warmth the pieces bring to a space.”

Grace grew up in Albany, and after a stint away during university, decided to move back as an adult six and a half years ago. “I love it in Albany; it’s easy coastal living with the right size of a city to support having a business without being too big. Albany is a tourist destination due to its beauty, but it has also kept its small-town feel.”
