Autumn Notes

Autumn is a time to appreciate the simple and most important pleasures in life; the beauty of nature’s ever-changing colours, the joy of family, good company, and the enduring comfort of being home. Take a read through our top tips to embrace the season ahead.

Add Layers

Just as you reach to your coats and jackets for warmth, bolster your home with lots of lovely, soft, warm layers to snuggle up in. Luxurious materials such as boucle and sheepskin are beautiful to cocoon in through the longer, cooler evenings.

Choose Autumn Colours

Be inspired by Mother Nature’s palettes. Emulate her hues by bringing warming tones into your home like ochre, green, brown and touches of brass that reminds us of the golden falling leaves outside.

Bring nature in

Collect leaves, twigs and seed heads, bringing the fragility of autumn into your curated styling displays. Keep a collection of vases to fill and change up around the home, our leather Vas cluster make a beautiful display with or without being filled. Each day, fling open your windows and let fresh air into your home. People forget to do this in the colder months. Not only is it important for health reasons but it’s a refreshing way to blow away the cobwebs and start the day feeling calm and refreshed.

Soften the light

Candles and candleholders are an essential element of all autumn evenings. They create pockets of thoughtful reflection around your home, casting a warming glow for a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. Try mixing different styles of candles together. You can create symmetry on your table by grouping two or three tall candles with lower-level tea lights. Candleholders with sculptural touches add lovely points of interest to a room too. Or else keep it simple and elegant with tapered candles.

To help make your home a place where you feel relaxed, reassess the areas where you spend time. Would more cushions make a window seat more inviting during the cooler months? Or maybe a tray of drinks and essentials for elevating your signature at-home cocktails? If you have a fireplace or wood-burner, now is the time to stock up on firewood and make sure your fireside is a cosy place for everyone in your household to gather. Footstools and floor cushions grouped around the hearth will make it an inviting place to linger, and the perfect cosy armchair where you can recuperate and count your blessings during autumn, both the big ones and the small.
